Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking an Operations Analyst to join our team in Burnaby, BC.



Wood’s Operations Analysis Group specialises in providing simulation modelling services to international mining, manufacturing, processing and infrastructure clients. We are dedicated to adding value to our client's operations by using the latest discrete event simulation, operations research, modelling and analytical techniques.

Role Overview

Developing and implementing appropriate statistical applications and decision support tools for diverse projects and industries
Managing, compiling and statistically analyzing operations data including data mining, simulation, computer modeling, linear programming, and utilizing other mathematical techniques
Utilizing superior mathematical and computer skills for modeling and balancing multiple projects and competing deadlines
Interacting with clients to understand and analyze operations processes and modeling requirements.
Preparing reports for external clients and of briefing documents for internal review
Assisting in developing tools and techniques to improve approaches
Assisting in Business Development activities, including seeking business opportunities and preparing proposal documents

Skills / Qualifications
The Successful Candidate will score highly against the following criteria:

A degree in Engineering, Science or Data Science with up to 10 years of post-graduate experience (new graduates are encouraged to apply)
A logical and rational approach to problem solving
Excellent conceptual skills and a flair for developing models to simulate real world systems
Competent programming skills in a high-level language
A high degree of professional integrity and confident presentation skills
General knowledge of and/or exposure to the mining and mineral processing, oil and gas and transportation and supply chain industries
Experience and proficiency in VBA, the SIMAN language, and the Arena simulation tool will be highly regarded
Experience and proficiency in Python, Tableau and other data analysis software should be highlighted
